Freight Train - Burnin' Down The Station
This band is influenced by bands like Rose Tattoo, New York Dolls, Kiss
and Motorhead, so you know I was all over this CD. The guitar player for this power trio is
Dirty Al Duncan, who played with the Johnny Thunders Group during the Que Sera Sera era,
and who has a great playing style that reminds me of Montrose/Humble Pie/Ted Nugent,
and that is blues based, but in a Hanoi Rocks sort of way. The vocals remind me a lot of
Zodiac Mindwarp and The Love Reaction and the overall sound of the band is 70’s hard rock sleaze!
Sounds good in print huh? Well it sounds just as good on the CD!

This release features songs like: “Overdrive” which is not unsimilar to Cat Scratch Fever and the
Zodiac Mindwarp sounding “Doll”, as well as the sleazy sounding “Gotta Keep A Runnin” and the
Montrose-esque “Bound To Fail” and the appropriately named “Fire It Up and Crank It”, which name
checks both Motorhead and the Stooges!!! If you read any of my reviews, you’ll know that this style of
music is my lifeblood, so if you really dig sleazy guitar playing and booming 70’s style hard rock,
you’ll wanna get this release from this San Francisco based band ( the real deal )

Freight Train - Burnin' Down The Station
Freight Train is like a well oiled machine.
They know how to produce a balls to the walls sound of punk blues oriented hard rock ...
It is hard to believe the sound is from only three people ...
11 original and 2 cover songs prove why the masses wanna hop aboard this freight train ...

Freight Train - Burnin' Down The Station
When I listen to Freight Train's Burnin' Down The Station CD I feel like I'm in some sleazy hole-in-the-ground
bar hearing this great blues/hard rock band. You certainly won't feel that you are in some huge stadium when
listening to Freight Train's debut effort. The production on the CD gives it a real live bar feel, especially with
the way the drums sound and singer Dirty Al Duncan's 'unpolished' voice. Somehow, I think that this is exactly
what Freight Train was trying to capture with their music -- and you have to give the band props for achieving that.
Not surprisingly, Freight Train's songs on this debut album all sound quite similar, even after a few listens --
like a modern version of heavy metal innovators Blue Cheer. My favorites are "Holiday" and "Change In You",
the latter which has to be the ultimate bar type bluesy rock tune. This is the type of music that any
hard rock fan would likely enjoy in a live setting

Freight Train - Fire it Up & Crank It 5 Song EP 2004
Freight Train is a sledgehammer Rock n' Roll power trio formed on the streets of San Francisco
with the common goal of playing the killer sounds of classic rock. Driven straight ahead with no wimpy
breakdowns, Freight Train delivers a huge sound reminiscent of rock legends of the past on a drunken
night out at the bar. They got their style down pat, mixing up a raucous blend of raw Rock n' Roll,
Blues and Heavy Rock into their repertoire. Freight Train recorded their new five song demo, aptly titled
Fire it Up & Crank It with Juan Urteaga at Trident Studios, which is available now.
These bay Area vets have got this train rolling on the highway to hell.
